CEFL offers IELTS (International English Language Testing System) courses designed to prepare learners who are intending to sit for the IELTS Academic module examination.
Materials used in the courses provide learners with the language, vocabulary, grammar and skills to succeed in the examination. Throughout both courses, learners are shown examination techniques and are given the opportunity to practise their examination skills at regular intervals.
IELTS Test Techniques Course
The IELTS Test Techniques course is conducted over 30 hours (normally 10 x 3 hour classes).
Entrance into the CEFL IELTS Test Techniques course is dependent on a learner’s ability to demonstrate that he/she is already at an IELTS band 4.0 level.
IELTS Preparation Course
The IELTS Preparation Course is conducted over 80 hours (normally 40 x 2 hour classes).
Entrance into the CEFL IELTS Preparation course is dependent on a learner’s ability to demonstrate that he/she is already at IELTS band 5.5 level, as the course aims to provide learners with the tools required to achieve a score which will enable them to meet the entrance requirements of colleges and universities worldwide.
The IELTS Test Techniques Course and IELTS Preparation Course are designed for students aged 16 or above who can already use English independently at an Intermediate level – i.e. they should be able to understand the general meaning of a class in English and be able to ask questions and give opinions, as well as be capable of general communication.
